What We Built

A structured learning
journey. Built from nothing.

Learning to touch type properly takes time — and the biggest enemy of consistent practice is losing motivation before the skill becomes automatic. Most typing tools are either too dry to hold attention or too shallow to actually teach the technique. We wanted to build something that felt like progress, rewarded effort, and kept people coming back.

Type Quest is structured as eight levels of increasing difficulty — starting on the home row keys (A, S, D, F, J, K, L) and building through individual letters, full words, sentences, longer passages, speed challenges and eventually numbers and symbols. Every lesson is randomised, so the content is always fresh no matter how many times you return to the same level.

Live words-per-minute and accuracy tracking give learners immediate feedback on every keystroke. Stars are earned at the end of each level based on performance, and 24 achievements unlock throughout the journey — rewarding everything from typing your first word to practising after 9pm. Everything was written in plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript. No platforms, no libraries, no subscriptions.
